Professor Kwang Ho Kim is a Distinguished Professor in the School of Materials Science and Engineering, Pusan National University, Korea. He is President of National Core Research Center for Hybrid Materials Solution(NCRC), 2006-Present; served as Vice President of the Korean Ceramic Society, 2009, 2010, 2014; President of the Korean Institute of Surface Engineering, 2009-2010; and Director, National Research Foundation of Korea, 2009-2011. He is also Director, GLOBAL FRONTIER R&D Center for Hybrid Interface Materials, 2013-Present.

He has made seminal contributions in the area of multi-functional coatings, hybrid materials, and energy materials. He has developed numerous technologies to deposit metal and ceramic thin film using various deposition techniques and analyze the physical properties of the thin films. He has pioneered a new research area, “Hybrid Interface Materials” to go beyond the limits of previous functions and applications of ceramic, metal, polymer materials. His work has been focused on the design-synthesis-evaluation of hybrid-interfaces forming between two different bulk materials. Such efforts have led to the creation of new composites with innovative functions.

He is the recipient of numerous awards including ACerS Global Ambassador Award, Medal of Excellence in Science and Technology – 1st Class “Creation Medal”/ Republic of Korea; Medal of Distinguished Service -2nd Class “Hwangjo Medal”/ Republic of Korea; Academic Award/ Korean Ceramic Society; Technical Award, Korean Society of Surface Science and Engineering; and ACerS ECD Global Star Award. He has published more than 570 research papers and holds 60 patents. A number of the technologies developed by him have been transferred to companies for wide scale applications.
